Summer’s Sweetest Treats

This summer’s biggest hit to cool off with the insane heat was ice cream. Barstow students tell us about their favorite flavors, places and toppings to help them cool off.

Ice cream this summer was one of Barstows favorites in the student body. They state their input on their favorite flavors, least favorite flavors, establishments

to get ice cream, preferred toppings, whether they favor ice cream or milkshakes when indulging, as well as cup or cone, and overrated and underrated flavors.

“I’m very basic and I like just vanilla with M & M’s mixed in it. I get it everywhere,” says Lilly Simpson ‘28.

Akram Qasem ’28, though, gave a more creative answer. Qasem ‘28 stated that his underrated preference of flavors was mango from a local entity entitled Yogurtini. I found it rather intriguing that his preference was mango given that it is an acquired taste for many individuals.

Simpson ‘28 the agreement was reached that most people preferred flavors chocolate or vanilla were favored by more individuals. Simpson ‘28 stated that fruit based flavors were rather repulsive, differing from the opinion of Qasem ‘28. An additive of Simpson ‘28’s preferred mechanism of consumption of ice cream is to incorporate the popular candy, M & M’s. “I’m very basic and I like just vanilla with M & M’s mixed in it. I get it everywhere.” Lilly Simpson ‘28. This also validates the fact that candy is enjoyed heavily in conjunction with ice cream.

While Simpson ‘28 may like more “basic” flavors, many students also agreed with Qasem ‘28 that his taste in mango ice cream is better than vanilla or chocolate. Go on an adventure this weekend and try a new ice cream flavor!
