“I Feel Like Falling in Love” – Beyonce’s Kansas City Renaissance Concert

Alright, it’s official. My life has reached a high point I don’t think I’ll ever get down from. Beyonce’s Renaissance tour came to Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The concert was the most amazing thing I have ever seen, and Beyonce is truly one of the greatest performers of our time.

The concert didn’t start out smoothly. It was supposed to start at 8 p.m., so my mother and I left our house at 6:30 PM. Arrowhead Stadium being only 25 minutes away, we were confident we’d be able to get there in time. However, we could not have been more wrong.

As we got closer and closer to the stadium, traffic seemed to slow more and more, and our GPS’s ETA kept increasing. My mother and I reassured ourselves it would be alright if we missed the first song. After an hour of sitting in traffic, people in the cars near us began getting out and walking. Women held their heels in their hands and made  their way up the hill to the concert. At this point it was well past 8 p.m., and my mom and I were panicked at the thought of missing the entire concert. At 9:50, we were finally able to find parking and make our way into Arrowhead.

The giant crowd of people decked out in silver was energetic and bustling. The sky was dark, and the weather was perfect: not too hot, not too cold. The warm air filled the crowd. Music was blasting from open car windows as the gaggle of people made their way up the walkway. There were people decked out in entirely silver jumpsuits; others had opted to don every piece of silver jewelry they owned. I saw body glitter, three inch platform boots, and intricately beaded shirts. Everyone was giving compliments to other’s outfits, creating one of the most friendly and welcoming atmospheres I’ve ever been a part of.

After a while waiting, the overwhelming flow of late people had trickled to a stop. Beyonce had graciously delayed the start time so that everyone could get their seat. At 9:50, the lights finally went down. Excited whispers grew as music started playing, and finally Queen Bey took the stage.

What followed was 3 hours of the best performance I’ve seen in my entire life. Opening with “Dangerously in Love”, she took the stage in a floor length gown encrusted with thousands of glittering rhinestones. For most of the performance, I was caught between dancing to the deafening beat of her songs and attempting to get a closer look at her outfits.

Beyonce also incorporated many different covers and tributes to other musical artists in her concert, giving the performance even more heart and nostalgia. The perfect blend between her most popular songs and her newer hits allowed for both casual listeners and dedicated fans to belt their hearts out. My favorite songs she performed were “Cuff It” and “Crazy in Love”, but genuinely every single song was amazing.

Now, weeks removed from the concert, I still find myself thinking about it all the time. Beyonce’s songs pack my playlists, and my Tiktok feed is filled with Renaissance concert videos. Beyonce’s talent is one-of-a-kind, and I’m so grateful I was able to attend her concert.
