Wins and Losses Against University Academy

Barstow Girls Volleyball played University Academy, losing their JV game and winning their Varsity games.

JV played at 5:00, and lost the two sets that they played. The second set went into overtime, with an ending score of 29-27.

“It was pretty stressful,” said Camille Zinc (‘26). “It’s hard getting a tie break, kind of impossible.” Tie breakers only occur if one team reaches the set point (25 points) without having at least a two point lead. The tie breaking went on for 15 minutes, and Barstow lost on a faulty serve.

Despite this, Zinc remained positive, “We’re working on our passing.” It’s clear that in spite of the frustrating finish, the JV team continues to improve.

Varsity played at 7:00. “I’m not really scared,” said Anna Shapoval (‘23) before the game, “I feel like we’re ready, and I feel like they’re beatable.” Shapoval was right. Varsity won their game, 3-1, losing only their first match.

Turnout in the Barstow stands was small, mostly consisting of the player’s parents. Student support for games is always appreciated, and students often receive heavily discounted entry prices. Go support your classmates!
