Barstow’s JV and Varsity volleyball teams faced Van Horn High School on September 15 in their eleventh game of the season. Both teams tried their hardest, but Van Horn ultimately won both games.
“They were very good games. I think it helps with Junior Varsity’s confidence, I see the confidence and pride of knowing we can work as a team,” Assistant Coach Lisa Tillema said.
“It was not the best, but we did win a set. We have improved from the first practice,” Mariya Khan (’26) said.
Both JV and Varsity teams gave it their all and it showed throughout their plays and saves. JV was able to win one set in the game but unfortunately lost the rest. The beginning of the Varsity game started off strong, losing by only seven points in the first set. Despite the eventual loss, this game was only a minor setback in the team’s season and is just another opportunity for them to build their teamwork.
“It was not awful, we played well but they just happened to win. I think we were just a little rusty,” Hayley Greenwood, a Varsity player, (’24).
“The games were fine, JV did really well and they had a lot of aces,” Chanelle Anderson (’24) said. She is the manager for both volleyball teams.
Coming to the games is a great way to support the teams and show some Barstow spirit! We wish the volleyball teams the best of luck! Go Knights!
