The buzzer sounds; another loss, but all that is soon to change. This season has been tough for Barstow’s middle school girls basketball teams, and it will get even tougher ahead.
“In terms of wins and losses it has been a little difficult,” said Lauren Kanan ‘15, head coach of the middle school girls basketball B-team.
As the season is wrapping up, these girls need as much support as they can get. Even though not everybody is a fanatic about basketball, we have a true population that thinks this is extremely important, and we should support all of the MS dreams here in our community. These girls have been working hard for three solid months. They have put blood, sweat, and tears into representing this school. The A-Team did go on to get their first win last month, which truly shows what good progress all of the girls are accomplishing.
This season both of the girls teams have put up a fight. Keira Cullan ‘30, Imogene Gruber ‘30, Maggie Kaufman ‘30, Emily Perrenoud-Moore ‘30, Anya Shah ‘30, Charli Williams ‘30, Sophie Zelin ‘31, Olive Abbott ‘30, Luciana Camis ‘31, Sasha Chang ‘31, Olivia Dummermuth ‘31, Jahnavi Kakarala ‘30, Paige Smith ‘31, and Cordelia Welsh ‘30 are the fighters this season. These girls are practicing every Tuesday and Thursday for two hours. The A team officially got their first win against Bishop Seabury in a nail-biter, However, the B team is still searching for their first win, but as a team, they have made several improvements over the season. After a lot of work, the team is marching into the postseason.
Let’s go girls! Let’s finish this season on one last high note. Congratulations to all on the basketball team. All of your hard work will soon pay off. Just never stop believing in yourselves.
