When finals roll around it can be a stressful time for everyone. However, what is the hardest subject to study for? Questions fill your mind like “how am I going to study?” and “how long should I study for?” We’re seeking answers to these important questions.

How much should a student be expected to study for finals or any big quiz? A student should plan to study for finals an hour every day for 20 days on average. Lauren Mack ‘29 states, “To prepare myself I am studying a week or two in advance. I would study roughly two hours a day for about one to two weeks beforehand.” Yohanna Anteneh ‘29 said, “I’ll study 30 minutes every night for each class about a week in advance.”

The most efficient way to study is to try to have your friends quiz you and plan ahead for all your tests. Many different ways can be effective for studying. Where do their strategies differ and are their methods effective? Many studies show that the most effective way to study is to stay focused, find a good area, and get a good night’s rest.

Yohanna Anteneh ‘29 said, “Make flashcards over the unit and have your friends ask you questions and answer them.” Lauren Mack ‘29 agrees, “The most effective way to study is flashcards and taking notes and asking questions.”

Some finals will also be more difficult than others. Lauren Mack ‘29 speculates, “Mrs. Wood is gonna give the longest and hardest final along with Mrs. Culver, but Mr. Gaffeny and Proffe Jones; the shortest.” Yohanna Anteneh ‘29 says “I think my best and easiest score will be in English and science and my worst and hardest in math and history.”

This year, make sure you study a lot. Finals are coming up and are just around the corner at the end of this quarter. To study and make sure you have a partner and have lots of free time to get all this done. Use these helpful tips to get a good score in your finals.
