The beginning of fall is upon us which means spooky movies are becoming even more popular. There is nothing better than curling up in a warm blanket with a bucket of popcorn, watching a scary movie. Students at Barstow love spooky movies.
What do people think about scary movies, why do they enjoy them?
Yohannah Anteneh ‘29 says “I love watching scary movies with my friends, it makes it less scary” She says her favorite scary movies are Momma and Smile because they had a great plot but were less creepy. “One thing I cannot deal with is gore, I couldn’t finish Midsomer because it was so bloody.
Miya Parker ’29 says she doesn’t like movies with a lot of fake CGI because they are unrealistic. “My favorite scary movies are the scream franchises because they have good plot twists and are realistic.” She says she has watched Scream, Smile and The Quiet Place.
Leila Block ’29 says she likes horror movies with a surprising plot. “My favorite is Tarot because it’s not the usual horror movie.” Some spooky movies she has watched are Scream, The Boy, and Smile.
Horror movies bring excitement and fear into the film industry, so many people love the thrill of watching one. Even though there are many movie genres, horror is a favorite at Barstow.
