Boys soccer faced Blue Valley North’s varsity team on Thursday, 9/8. Unfortunately, the Knights took a 0-6 loss against the Mustangs, the first loss of the season.
“We started off really well this season. I think we need to take it as a learning opportunity,” says team captain Tyler Mcneive ‘24.
Throughout the game, the Knights felt the pressure with BVN’s offense scoring two goals early in the game. Even though the ball moved back and forth a few times, overall, the Mustangs continued to score on the Knights goal.
While the result is obviously not the best, the loss will still teach the team about their weaknesses and their strengths, as well as good experience overall playing against larger school programs.
“We learned about the parts of our system that we need to improve and keep working on,” continues Mcneive.
In other BVN vs. Barstow news, the Barstow reserve team also faced off against the BVN JV team for a single half game at the DAC. The reserve team lost 0-1, but still got valuable playing time. Currently, the reserve team is coming off of a 7-1 win against Bishop Miege C-team, with 4 goals by Sascha Lutsko, one of the new Ukrainian foreign exchange students.
Barstow’s next game is against Bishop Miege on Thursday, September 22.
