Santa Claus is comin’ to town

There are many different ways to celebrate Christmas time. From staying at home with family, to going on a fun vacation to somewhere warm. There are many different traditions that Barstow students practice too.

For example, some people travel to be with their families. “Every year I go to my grandma’s house,” Sebastian Johnson, a seventh-grade student says.

Some people like staying at home, or traveling the world. Despite all these different ways to celebrate, Christmas still brings people together in the spirit of holiday fun. Speaking of fun, some people make their Christmas a serious endeavor.

In 2019 an eight year old boy set out to catch Santa. This boy was Bennett Schreiber-Devoy, now a 7th grader at Barstow. Schreiber-Devoy ‘30 made an elaborate plan to catch old St. Nick.

“I set a cage up above the cookies,” Schreiber-Devoy ‘30 said. Then he waited for Santa to come down the chimney and take a cookie. When it was time, Schreiber-Devoy ‘30 pulled the rope to trap Mr. Claus.

Not all people go that out for Christmas, and frankly, they don’t need to. All you really need to do is to set out some cookies and milk and wait for the morning. If you wanna go a bit above that even, you can leave out some carrots for Rudolf and the other reindeer.

When all is said and done, Christmas is one of the best holidays ever. During Christmas time you can be with family and friends. Just make sure you don’t do anything bad over the year, or you might end up with a stocking full of coal.
