It took film director and screenwriter S. S. Rajamouli five years after Baahubali: The Conclusion to have his next big-screen appearance. The smash-hit, Rise Roar Revolt, is breaking box office records, even coming close to the biggest Indian franchise of all time, Baahubali.

The film received critical acclaim and many said that,  “Those unfamiliar with Indian history might find themselves lost for a moment here and there, but those instances are fleeting, as the universal language of action speaks clearly throughout RRR,” and that, “This is an action spectacle that will have you alternating between jaw-drops, big smiles, and tears of joy, and its the epitome of a film that benefits from enjoying it on the biggest screen possible.”

Set in the 1920s in Delhi, RRR follows the stories of two men, Ramaraju (Ram Charan) and Bheem (NTR Jr) who become close friends despite not knowing each other’s true identities or the motivations for their actions, either for or against the British Empire.

While Ramaraju is the furious, unyielding young officer who resonates with fire, Bheem is the innocent, sincere, but strong-willed character that capsules the water. Ramaraju works with the British Empire, but is mistreated because of his skin color. On the other hand, Bheem, a member of the Gond tribe, has come to the city of Delhi to rescue Malli, a little girl held hostage by the British who once belonged to the Gond tribe.

The story is stitched with jaw-dropping images and screenplay. Ramaraju is molded in the likeness of his namesake, Lord Rama from Hindu mythology, brandishing a bow and arrow in the face of a British attack. While such moments might seem comical to a Western audience, they complement the film’s emotional ability, in which love and righteousness flow through the character just like the water which is a central theme in the movie.

RRR is the ultimate combination of gorgeous cinematography and stylistic flair that should be seen in cinemas. Additionally, NTR Jr and Ram Charan capture the spirit of the movie.

S.S. Rajamouli once again puts his name at the top with his latest endeavor, and many even speculate that there are plans for a sequel. As of now, RRR is a box office hit, and is in theaters now.
