Star Wars fans have long anticipated the release of the Obi Wan Kenobi series on Disney+. Until now, many details on the series have been unknown to the public. Now, however, Disney has granted fans further insight into the series. The release date of the series, a teaser trailer, some cast members, and art for the series have been released. Finally, Star Wars fans do not have to wait much longer for the new series.
Sriram Pattabiraman (‘24), a Star Wars fan, said, “There’s already so many Star Wars series that have been released, I’m excited for another one. I am looking forward to pithy quotes from Obi-wan and more Star Wars memes. I believe the new Obi Wan series will be just as great as the most recent series have been.”
For Star Wars fans, any new series or movie brings great excitement. Since Boba Fett, a new addition to the collection of movies and series has been greatly anticipated. It has been years since a new movie or series has been released regarding the main Star Wars series. Fans have not seen the beloved main characters of the saga since The Rise of Skywalker came out almost three years ago. The new series about Obi Wan Kenobi could unveil new details about the Skywalker saga that were previously unknown.
The newly released cast list may give a hint as to what is to come in the series. Disney revealed Hayden Christensen will return to the Star Wars universe to play Anakin Skywalker once again, and Ewan McGregor will of course play Obi Wan Kenobi.
Upon the announcement of this, Ewan McGregor said, “I think it’s no secret that Hayden Christensen comes back and we got to play scenes together again as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker and it was great to work with him again… I’m not going to give away anything else about the storyline, only I think it’s really going to satisfy Star Wars fans.” Given that the last time we saw these two actors together they were involved in a battle against one another, Star Wars fans can most likely expect another intense duel in the new series.
The Obi Wan Kenobi series will reveal what happened in Obi Wan Kenobi’s life from the end of Revenge of the Sith to the beginning of A New Hope. Fans will receive insight into the life of “Ben” Kenobi. The trailer shows Obi Wan on Tatooine, following Yoda’s orders and staying there for training.
Apart from Anakin Skywalker, the trailer also previews a duel between Obi Wan and Darth Maul, which indicates Obi Wan might finally be able to avenge Qui Gon Jinn. The series is set to be released on May 25.
Overall, the trailer and other new information released about the series seems very promising. The series is sure to contain long awaited battles, insight in the gap between Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, and many familiar faces returning to their beloved roles in the Star Wars universe. Once again, Obi Wan is our only hope to be one of the greatest Star Wars series since the Skywalker saga ended.
