The middle school boys basketball team kicks off the season with mixed feelings about the team, a wide range of skill sets, and determination to beat Pembroke!
This year’s A team consists of eight boys. There are only two seventh graders that made the team, Siddarth Datti ’29 and Ethan Lim ’29. Even though these boys may be a year younger, they still preserve and work hard gaining new skills every practice. These players love the game and are determined to win.
When asked why he started basketball, Sam Bernstein ’28 says, “When I was younger, my dad made me play every sport and I chose my favorite, which was basketball.”
Ethan Lim ’29 had a different way of getting into basketball, “When I was younger, at school I saw some bigger kids playing basketball and I wanted to play and from then on I just loved the sport.”
The confidence is varying with some thinking they are going to lose and some ready to win. Kadan Bush ’28 says, “We are going to win all of our games,” very confidently.
On the other hand, Daniel Brick ’28 has a different point of view, concerned for the team’s overall ability. This bag of mixed feelings, however, hasn’t stopped the team from working hard and playing hard!
A good amount of A Team players in eighth grade are planning on playing in high school. Some players are looking forward to other sports like baseball and soccer, but others are pumped for basketball. Our high school boys basketball team is doing very well this season which makes our eighth grade stars even more excited for freshman season.
Make sure to come out and support all Barstow basketball teams because we are back and better than ever!
