How students at Barstow cherish the fall weather.
Fall is a special time at Barstow, with a range of activities that bring students together. From sporting activities to Halloween fun, there is something for everyone here. Students at Barstow have many fun fall activities they enjoy doing, some love playing sports, riding horses, or trick or treating.
“It’s been such an awesome experience to grow up playing soccer with the same friends since I was three years old,” says Krish Iyer.
As the weather cools and fall begins, students are brought together by fun fall activities. For some students, their favorite activity happens at Barstow. This allows them to play with their peers. Though many students do activities outside of school as well. This pushes students to make new friends.
For students who love doing sports, they play on an outside team. “I get to play with a team outside of school, it’s called GABL,” says Sebastian Johnson, a basketball player since 2nd grade. There are many benefits to playing outside of school like different coaching techniques, choosing a team that aligns with your interests and goals, or possibly your school doesn’t have a team.
If your school does have a team and you choose to play on it, then you get to experience a totally different way of playing middle school sports. Some of these are a push to get better grades, stronger connection with peers, opportunities for leadership and teamwork, and accomplishments to remember for the rest of your life. “My favorite memory of playing soccer is winning the Presidents Cup, I will never forget how excited I was at that moment,” says Iyer.
Halloween traditions are a fun part of fall, whether you are passing out candy, trick or treating, or just dressing up with friends, Halloween is an amazing time to express yourself through fun costumes. Jude Seidel said, “Every year on Halloween I pass out candy before going out to trick or treat with friends.”
If you are someone who likes to ride horses, then fall is the perfect time. The weather allows your horses to be worked without overheating, and the arenas aren’t too wet. The show season will soon be coming to an end, so riders are ramping up their shows to get as many points as possible.
At Barstow fall is a season of connection, adventure, and growth. Whether on the field, in the saddle, or amidst the fall festivities there is always something to do in the fall at Barstow.
