Girls Golf Competes at Districts Tournament

While the golf team is smaller than most, their wins at district’s proves them as mighty as any team.

The girls golf team has had a successful season despite being only two people. (Izzi Osman ’24)

Competing at the Hidden Valley Golf Links Course in Clever, Missouri, the golf team faced many challenges but surpassed them all with an attitude critical to success.

Izzi Osman ‘24 explains that “the ground was really hard. I couldn’t really tee up my ball, so I was forced to use the wrong clubs for shots. Because of this, I lost a lot of distance whenever I played, so that was hard.”

Additionally, Osman hit one of her shots into the water, garnering various penalties and penalty shots. Her total score (109) was only three away from the qualifying score of 106. She had to hit three penalty shots, so her nine-shot finish on that hole was very important.

Overall though, Osman says that “the season was great. I’m really looking forward to it next year, and hope that more of my junior friends join to experience it with me.”

Cheng, on the other hand, hit a great match, finishing fourth overall in the entire tournament. She has played golf all four years of high school, and Osman says that it definitely “shows in her skill level.”

Cheng will move onto the state championships, which take place later this month. We wish her all the best!
