Full House Actor Bob Saget Dies at 65

Since the beginning of 2020, there have been numerous deaths that have come as surprises. From the death of Kobe Bryant in the helicopter accident to the death of Chadwick Boseman as he was battling cancer, there have been many prominent celebrities that have passed away during the COVID-19 pandemic. The newest addition to this list, unfortunately, is Bob Saget, a comedian and actor known primarily for his role as Danny Tanner in the show Full House that aired in the late 80s and early 90s. 

The sudden death of Bob Saget on Sunday sent shockwaves across the entertainment industry. John Stamos, who portrayed Saget’s brother-in-law Jesse Katsopolis on the show for nearly a decade, said that he is “broken” by Saget’s death. “I am broken. I am gutted. I am in complete and utter shock,” he said. “I will never ever have another friend like him. I love you so much, Bobby.” 

Saget’s death was confirmed by the Orange County Sherrif’s Office on January 11, when he was found unresponsive in a hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes. The cause of death is still being investigated as the results of his autopsy will take several weeks to come back. Detectives found no evidence of foul play or drug use. It has been reported that Saget had contracted COVID-19, but was in good health despite the virus.

Bob Saget was the father of 3 girls: Aubrey, Lara, and Jennifer Saget. He was a prominent figure in Hollywood and impacted the lives of millions through his role in Full House where he played the role of a widowed father taking care of three daughters with the help of his brother-in-law and best friend. He recently reprised the role of Danny Tanner in the new reboot of Full House: Fuller House, where he made a cameo in several episodes. The joyfulness that he portrayed through his acting impacted generations of viewers, with his selfless, caring personality as a single dad. 

Bob Saget’s death was yet another unexpected death in the entertainment industry. His role as an actor and comedian helped shape sitcom TV shows in the 90s and early 2000s and entertained millions of viewers around the world.
