Cross Country Places Well at Cass-Midway

The Cross Country team went to Cleveland, Missouri to compete in the Midway Meet. While there are only three people on the team, they still try their hardest to win against bigger programs.

As for the results, the team collectively placed well, among the top 30 for both the girls and boys divisions. In the girls division, Isa Welty ‘25 finished 7th overall, while Mimi Wood ‘26 finished 19th. For the boy’s division, Jackson Williams ‘25 finished 27th, all stellar showings for the team.

Despite only having three members, the Cross Country team has started the year off strong. (Avani Lakkireddy ’24)

The Cross Country team has a unique set of challenges this fall, stemming from the fact that the team is so small. Many runners left last year, most prominently Luke Whitfill ‘22, who signed to Trinity College for cross country and track.

Even with these obstacles, the team continues to stay strong, work hard, and get better. It’s doubtless that the XC team will progress through the season.
