In a hard-fought battle against KC Lutheran High School, the boys soccer team emerged victorious, winning 3 to 1.
The boys faced the Lutheran Knights on Friday, September 9. Both teams put up a good fight, keeping the ball moving throughout the game.
The first half was tight, with both teams scoring one goal. Midfielder Raj Fanaswala ’24 scored the first goal five minutes in. Lutheran responded by scoring in the middle of the first half.
After a pep talk from Coach Huppe and a quick water break during halftime, the boys were back up and running for the second half.
“We started off pretty weak as a team, and couldn’t put anything together, but during halftime we worked it all out and played the second half much better as a result,” explains forward Owen Snyder ‘24.
Ten minutes into the second half, Daniel John ‘24 kicked the ball into the goal off of an assist from Snyder. John currently leads the team in season goals, a talent that many say is based off of his ability to always “be in the right place”.
Cale Williams ’26 also shined in this game with another iconic fake out corner kick assist to right back Pierce Farinelli ’24. This time, however, the play did not deliver, but was exciting to see on the field.
Finally, to close out the game, team captain and defender Andrew Lang3 ‘23 kicked the ball from the out of bounds line, making a perfect arc into the goal. The masterful execution of this goal made the crowd go wild.
The team’s season record is now 5-1. The boys play next in St. Louis at the much anticipated Principia Tournament. Read about past St. Louis trips at the link in our bio, and wish the boys the best of luck for this weekend.
