Some students enjoying last year’s Trunk-or-Treat. (Jill Grobel)
Every year Barstow has an awesome Halloween party at school. In fact, they have multiple parties, but all of them are fun. Barstow Halloween brings smiles to everyone’s faces. Many students are excited to show off their Halloween costumes, especially at the middle school costume contest.
“I think that Nash is going to have the best costume,” Harrison Fink said. “Last year he put a lot of work into his costume so I think he will do it again,” said Fink.
Some students take their costumes very seriously. Students find comfort in pretending to be a different person. It lets them show off their other aspects that they don’t show at school. That allows students to get to know each other better and more deeply.
You can always hear side conversations about what costume you’re going to be wearing, and if you’re going to win the costume contest. The best costume is usually decided at trunk or treat, but it has been decided at different times as well.
Last year for Halloween, Nash Chipman was Master Chief from Halo. He spent a lot of time putting work into his costume so it’s fair to say that he would do it again this year.
Barstow students really embrace Halloween. They really bring out their character by pretending to be someone else. The students give lots of energy into trunk or treat as they do anything. If you come into Barstow on Halloween, be prepared to get spooked.
