Barstow Girls Soccer Loses to Summit Christian

Sophie Brous ’23 brings the intensity against Summit Christian (Anita Mohan ’23)

Barstow Girls Varsity Soccer lost to Summit Christian High School 1-4, with Sophie Brous (‘23) scoring the only goal during the last two minutes of the game. Despite this, Captain Bella Kateusz (‘23) maintained a positive attitude.

“I think we lost because it was our first game and we played a team who has already played multiple games and had time to mesh as a team,” said Kateusz. “Summit Christian along with many other schools in our district has had a week of games but due to our two week spring break we are at a disadvantage for our first game every year.”

Several Barstow players also dealt with in-game muscle cramps, and needed to be stretched on the field. “I wish I had drank more water and eaten a banana before the game because I had calf cramps throughout the game,” Kateusz continued. “I think I played well and I think everyone played well for it being our first game. I’m very excited for the season.”

Barstow students should go to home games to support their fellow students. Their next home game is on April 1st. Go knights!
