Pink Out is one of the biggest events for Barstow’s volleyball team. It is a game that centers around breast cancer awareness and all proceeds from Pink Out went to the Susan G. Komen foundation to help find a cure.
The game itself was exhilarating. On top of Pink Out, it was also Middle School night, and Barstow was playing Pembroke, a long-time rival. There were many great saves and plays on Barstow’s part, and it was a nerve-wracking game. Sadly, Barstow lost to Pembroke in the end.
“In Pink Out, we played really well, Pembroke is just a really good team. I am proud of our performance though. Some of the calls were questionable but it was super fun to play with so many people,” Hayley Greenwood (‘24) said.
There was huge support at the game. The bleachers were full of Barstow students, faculty, and family cheering on the team.
“Pink Out was really fun, I didn’t actually get there till the start of the game but immediately I was overtaken by the exhilaration of being at a sports game. I definitely think the school spirit was there,” said Avani Lakkireddy (‘24). “The soccer boys really added to the excitement and with the seniors leading the chants.”
“It kind of sucked that we lost, but the school spirit was remarkable, a lot of people were there,” Owen Snyder (‘24) said.
“The game was really fun because everyone came together. Even though we were demolished, it was fun to watch,” Kiley Bourke (‘24) agreed.
Pink Out was an amazing game to attend, especially because of how many people came to support the team.
