Boys basketball played consecutive games against University Academy and Strafford.

Boys basketball faced University Academy on January 20 in an away game. The Knights emerged victorious, with a triumphant 59-28 win.’

“The game started off very close, and we let them gain a lead over us in the first quarter,” explained senior guard Sam Christifano ‘23. “After this, we realized we needed to focus on defensive plays as a team to help us serve us on the offensive end and provide us with momentum moving forward.”

This strategy was successful and allowed the team to greatly expand their lead.

Unfortunately, the Knights fell short in their game against Strafford the following day in the MO Hall of Fame Classic. The game ended 54-60, a narrow loss for Barstow.

“At Strafford, I believe our loss originated from a lack of proper mental state necessary to win. We knew the strategies to employ to beat them and simply failed to execute,” said Christifano. “After our loss against Strafford, the seriousness of the next practice was heightened as well as the intensity of it as we knew we performed below our potential.”

With at least 5 games left in the season, the team continues to maintain a strong mentality focused on winning and consistency. Come out and support the Knights!
